Dizziness Is Treatable!

Many who suffer with dizziness find themselves limiting their normal activities.  They constantly worry about falling.  Not knowing that help is available, they continue to struggle.

The two major causes of dizziness include benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and vestibular dysfunction.  These are easily treatable by a qualified physical therapist.

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV):

BPPV occurs when small crystals break free and end up in the inner ear canal.  This causes your brain to receive confusing messages about the body’s position.  Usually a physical therapist can resolve the issue within one or two visits.

Vestibular Dysfunction:

Disease, aging or injury can cause damage to the parts of the inner ear and brain that control balance.   Vestibular rehabilitation exercises will teach the brain to use other senses to substitute for the defective system.  Over time, the brain will learn to ignore the abnormal signals it is receiving from the inner ear.
